Information and history about Aida

Designed by John Alden in 1931 in Boston

58 years later, drawing became the start of Aida

In 1931 in Boston, the frame for the schooner Cassiopeia was drawn by John Alden. With lines taken from larger fishing schooners, she was described by Alden herself as a "go anywhere cruiser" and "should be most livable at long trips at sea"

58 years later, in 1989, the drawings were rediscovered and the keel stretched to Aida. The place was now Brekneholmen on Lista. In the following years she was rigged and furnished in Norheimsund and Bergen and in the following years has sailed on the western Norwegian fjords.

From 2020, Aida will have its new home port in Farsund.
